Largest ground-mounted PV installation in Turkey completed

The Turkish subsidiary of IBC Solar has commissioned a ground-mounted solar energy project with a total capacity of 11.4 MW in the province of Mersin. The project complements an existing 4.24 MW rooftop installation, which IBC Solar Turkey has already completed in January 2018 for Tiryaki Agro, a leading company for agricultural products.

Support for tender phase up to the commissing stage

Hakan Daltaban, the Managing Partner of IBC Solar Turkey, stated: “Not only that we have completed one of Turkey’s largest rooftop projects, we now also have commissioned one of the largest ground-mounted PV installations. Mehmet Tiryakioğlu, board member of Tiryaki Agro, has supported these projects from their tender phases up to the commissioning stage. With his visionary perspective, he has sent out a signal to other potential investors in the sector of solar energy.”

Technical supervision of Fraunhofer ISE

The project’s design and installation was carried out by Turkish and German engineers from IBC Solar under the technical supervision of the Fraunhofer ISE Institute. In addition, project partner Deloitte provided commercial consulting during the tender phase. As IBC Solar Turkey’s General Manager Bülent Yıldız explained, the PV power plant in Mersin will generate about 17 million kWh of electricity per year and will prevent about 11.000 tons of CO2 emissions.
